After Donald Trump’s hilariously misspelled tweet early Friday morning attacking “Alex” Baldwin, it took him almost half an hour to correct himself on both the comedic actor’s first name and the word “dying,” which I distinctly remember learning to spell in the fourth grade. Not before I screencapped it, of course (the timestamp on this reflects the fact that I live in the Pacific Time Zone and stay up way too late — also, don’t judge me by my phone charge):
And of course, Alec responded in kind, telling the president that although it was “agony” he was looking forward to sticking around for the eventual trial:
Agony though it may be, I’d like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago. You know. The Good Stuff. That we’ve all been waiting for.

But it seems like Baldwin was saving his best stuff for his very own brother, whose radio show he called in to the same day. Phoning The Daniel Baldwin Show show on ESPN’s Syracuse, NY network TK99, Alec “showed up” in character as Trump after a lead-in by his brother discussing the tweet, and, well… Things got amazing from there.
“Trump” informed Daniel that he was calling from the West Wing, where he was “having a gigantic piece of chocolate cake for breakfast,” which drew laughs from the radio studio. While in character, Alec expounded on the reasoning behind the tweet:
First of all, everybody knows that Stephen Baldwin [who is a Trump supporter] is the best Baldwin … Number two is Daniel Baldwin, and I’m so grateful to you for having me on the air … Billy Baldwin of the commie pinko lefty Baldwins … And then Alec Baldwin is like, he might as well just be like, Che Guevara, okay? He’s like a third-world communist, okay?”
Daniel went on to defend his brother’s impersonation, after which “Trump” demoted him first to “seventh out of four” and then to his twenty-ninth favorite Baldwin.
Later in the call, Alec joined in with his own voice “on the other line” and told Daniel that he was “sorry that the president doesn’t… have a sense of humor,” and exhorted the real-life Trump to tell his wife to stop calling him for tickets to Saturday Night Live.
